Where are Melissa shoes made?

Melissa shoes are 100% made in Brazil by Grendene that is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of synthetic footwear that has over 40 years of experience.

What are Melissa shoes made from?

Melissa shoes are made with its own trademark material, MELFLEX™, a type of PVC that is 100% recyclable, flexible, resistant and comfortable.  Melissa products do not contain any component of animal origin, or go through animal-testing throughout its entire process of production. Today, its iconic jelly shoes are now officially registered as vegan-friendly by The Original Vegan Society.

Are your products authentic?

Yes, they are! We are the official authorised distributor of Melissa shoes in Singapore. All the products sold on our website and our authorised retail outlets/ stockists listed in the Store Locator page are sourced directly from Melissa in Brazil.

Beware of fakes! Due to Melissa’s popularity, counterfeits are easily available everywhere and their quality is vastly inferior. One way to identify the genuineness is through the sweet bubblegum scent. Another most obvious sign would be on the sole of the shoes – where you can find Melissa’s official logo together with the guarantee that it is made in Brazil. We recommend buying only from authorised retail outlets for guaranteed authenticity and a peace of mind.

Why do Melissa shoes smell like bubblegum?

To add to the Melissa experience, the decision was made to infuse all our shoes with a sweet, distinct bubblegum scent and it is one of our most talked about features. The scent will not last forever but will linger for a few months. Some of our fans have told us that the scent has lasted for years on their shoes but this is largely dependent on how well you care for them.

Are Melissa shoes comfortable? Do they stretch?

Many Melissa customers and fans alike have told us that our shoes are really comfortable. If you don’t believe us, come on down to one of our stores and try them on yourself!

Since Melissa shoes are made of plastic, they do not really stretch. Hence, it is important that you find a pair that fits your feet perfectly.

Are Melissa shoes safe to wear?

Yes! Of course, they are. The safety and health of all our customers are of the utmost importance to us. Therefore, Melissa shoes are made in compliance with the requirements of REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances), the European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use. REACH has one of the world’s most stringent standards in the world.

How long do they last? How do I look after them?

Melissa shoes can last a really long time depending on how well they are cared for and how often they are worn. We suggest cleaning them with a damp cloth and some mild soap. As with most types of shoes, they should never be placed under the sun for long periods of time to avoid discolouration.

If you require more information, cleaning instructions can be found at the base of the shoebox it comes in.

How often are new collections released?

There are two major collections during the year – Spring Summer and Fall Winter. Most times, new styles are released during these collections and are rarely repeated so if you spot a style you fancy, we recommend that you best buy it before it goes out of stock! However, there will be times when a particular style becomes very popular and Melissa Brazil may decide to re-launch that style in a new range of colours or finishes.
